POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT


Udali College is one of the premier college of Hojai District that was established in the year 1995. The department of Political Science was established in the year 2000 with the inception of the College. Political Science has gradually evolved into a discipline which encompasses a study not only of domestic Politics but also international political scenarios. Moreover, the interdisciplinary character of the discipline makes the subject a very interesting field of study .It offers the students many opportunities for career building and intellectual avenue as well.

MISSION:

The Department of Political Science was started with a mission to impart quality higher education for all sections of society especially to the socially,economically,and educationally disadvantaged students of rural areas. We aspire to equip students for life, making them not only competent job seekers but also to be self-employed socially committed citizens well equipped with a sense of tolerance and justice by making them aware of their rights and duties for the betterment of the society.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT :

The prestigious Dept of Political Science of this College was established in the year 2000. As a discipline of Arts, Political Science Dept has been offering Honours, Regular. Major, Minor  courses .

The objectives of the dept are:

  • To impart theoretical & empirical understanding of the subject to its student
  • To help the students pursue their higher education in political Science.
  • To promote research endeavors of the faculty for better understanding of issues of political significance in India.

  6. Seminar on Child marriage on 28th 2023

LIBRARY :

The central library of the College is the general need of the students. However,the Dept also has a reference library with a total no of 100 books.

 

Following awareness programmes were conducted in the department:

  1. World population Day observe -

Theme- Family planning is a human right on 11th July 2019

  1. Awarness on Right to Vote on 12th October 2019
  2. International human rights Day celebrated on 10th December 2021
  3. National Unity Day observed on 31st October 2021
  4. National Panchayat Raj Day observed on 24th April 2022


 

WALL MAGAZINE:

A hand written wall magazine “ Inspire zone ” is published every year.


 

COMPUTER :

Personal Laptop is used in departmental activities.

ENRICHMENT OF COURSE:

Students take part in the seminars, workshops, group discussion and also submit assignment in different topics prescribed in syllabus.Special attention is given to the slow learner.

WEAKNESS :

Financial help is needed for digitalization of the Department. Lack of enough ICT facilities.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Wide scope for the students to build up their career.

Scope for the vast teaching experience & improvement of teaching for faculty members.

CHALLENGES :

ICT tools needed for covering 50% classes as e-learning to cope with the NEP,2020.

FUTURE PLAN :

The main objective of the department is to provide a maximum number of good students and encourage them to higher education. Faculty members are also dedicated in this process. The primary aim of the department is to develop the basic concept of morality among students so that they would become a good & socially responsible citizen in future.
